Our History

Our History

Our history started in 1922 in Rome. It all began on 56 via Salaria on a spot facing the historic La Fenice theatre in Rome. Coffee was the drink of choice for the elite back then, famous people would congregate after the theatre at our establishment to try the famous coffee blends prepared by our master coffee maker, Leone Marziali.

The following ten years saw a major expansion with Leone and a new partnership with his brothers which led to them opening three other cafes in Rome. The cafes were located on via Basento, via Salaria and via della Giuliana in the heart Rome.

In 1933, the Marziali coffee roasting started distributing its products to luxury hotels, cafes and restaurants in the capital.

In 1964, to satisfy the ever-growing requests of the clientele a new location opened on via s. Gennaro. From this moment onwards, with thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for coffee bestowed on Renato by his father Leone, the Marziali coffee business became one of the most notable of central Italy.
